REPERTOIRE
In common with most music organisations which have enjoyed a life of over 50 years, the Pilkington Choir has built a library of some 300 pieces of music. However, it has to be said that the majority of the pieces seemed very “dated” in today’s world. We have therefore embarked on a process of modernising our repertoire. Our Musical Director, Anne O'Hara, has reviewed the entire library, discarding pieces which we will never use again. She has already selected a large number of newer songs and is constantly looking for new music to continue updating our repertoire.
Our rehearsal folders presently contain 22 songs, including a medley from“Mamma Mia”  “Hallelujah” (from the film Shrek), “Embraceable You”, “I Only Have Eyes for You”, “Waltz of my Heart”, “The Wind Beneath my Wings”, “Bridge over Troubled Waters”. Of a more serious nature, but more demanding to sing properly, are  Haydn's “Creation Hymn” , Vivaldi's  “Gloria”  and Gounod’s “Sanctus”.

Our concert programme changes regularly as we learn new pieces choosing from some 40 songs which we know well. To a certain extent, the programme is selected according to the venue and audience. We usually sing about 17 pieces which are interspersed with solo spots from individual choir members. Our concert music is chosen from a selection of pieces which are modern and pleasing to audiences and choir members alike.

We are happy to stage concerts in all sorts of venues ranging from Churches to Residential homes.
We hope you will come to see us in our public concerts to hear what we sing.
